Powell (1992): The Melitasphaeridium choanophorum Interval Biozone (Mch Biozone) is defined as the strata between the FAD of Spiniferites cf. pseudofurcatus and the FAD of Spiniferites elongatus. It is calibrated to the Calcareous nannoplankton zone NN14 to NN19 (pars) of Martini (1971); planktonic foraminifer zone N19/N20 (pars) to N22 of Blow (1969) and Berggren (1972); and to the dinocyst Biozone D19 (pars) and D20 of Costa & Manum (1988). The last occurrence of this S. pseudofurcatus is indicated in DTS as earliest Piacenzian (no age calibration).				comp notes
